Dr Siti Harwani Md Yusoff was born in Pasir Mas, Kelantan. She received the MARA Education scholarship to further her studies for a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering at Tokai University, Japan and graduated in 2004. In 2006, she received an offer to further her studies for a double masters under the Erasmus Mundus scholarship program of the European Master for Aeronautics and Space Technology. The first master’s degree was obtained at the Technical University of Munich, Germany, and the second was obtained from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain. In 2008, she started to work at the School of Aerospace Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), before pursuing a PhD in 2011 in computational theoretical physics at USM. Her expertise is in space environment modelling, Earth magnetic field, space physics, and space mission design and analysis. In addition, she is actively involved in space outreach among high school students through the “Space Connect” program organized by the Space Systems Laboratory, School of Aerospace Engineering. She is also the co-founder and committee of an NGO known as the Malaysia Space Initiative (MISI). MISI’s mission is to become a platform for networking and support for space enthusiasts and industry players.
